Adai Avial

Adai Avial is one of the most sought and treated as one of the South Indian delicacies! You can take my word, it is one of the heaviest breakfasts.2 Adais would keep you jumping and pumping! Similar to Dosa and Idly, you will have to keep the batter ready for Adai...Adai is known for its high protein value! You can definitely count avial also as one of the nutritious dishes as it is a composition of various boiled vegetables! 

So, this is how we go about it...

Batter for Adai: (16 pieces)

Things you need -

1. Rice - Boiled Rice + Raw Rice (1 Cup - 200 grams)
2. Tur Dhal (100 grams) + Urud dhal (25 grams) + Chana Dhal (75 grams)
3. 12 Red Chillies 

Method:

1. Soak 200 grams of Rice and dhal's with 12 red chillies in sufficient quantity of water so that it is immersed well for 3 Hours. 
2. After 3 Hours, coarse grind it. Fine grinding should not be done. 
3. Unlike Dosa/ Idly, you will have to refrigerate this immediately after grinding. Alternatively, if you are going to use it immediately, you can add onions or Carrot or Cabbage and salt to taste.

For all you South Indian Breakfast lovers -Idly/ Dosa Batter!


Have you been lately taking too much of western breakfast with butter/cheese or lip smacking Parathas/ Puris..Yes, I do agree that they make a sumptuous and a delicious breakfast! It is highly possible that the delicious taste lingers on to your taste buds making you crave for more of these..But, oops, did you remember to check yourself in the mirror? Having these on a daily basis will definitely add more calories and is going to create problems to your figure line!
